I have received a call from the number 08445670460 from a company called Sapphire, claiming they would send me a free 20 pound fuel voucher but had to give 1 pound for postage, I was foolish enough to give the woman my card details but have since blocked my card so hopefully they won't be able to take out the £80 subscription fee for subscribing to their bogus magazine.
I feel like an idiot for passing on my details as I'm usually so careful about things like this, but hopefully have managed to stop in time before they can take my money, thieving scum.

I have just e-mailed this to Sapphire Members - if they touch my account i will take action, bit cheesed off never thought i was gullible  .....

    --------------
On the 23rd of May 2014 (spoke with someone called Sean) I the above agreed to pay £1.00 to receive a copy of your magazine . This was to see if the magazine was useful and with a 14 day period to cancel the subscription if unsuitable for myself. I have not received the publication as of the 28th of May 2014.

Even if the publication ever does turns up I DO NOT WANT TO SUBSCRIBE AND CANCEL IMMEDIATELY  to any future publications by or on behalf of your company what so ever. Having now done research on your company/trading name (and Promotional Media Services Ltd) I consider your ethics as a business seriously flawed. There are many testimonies on line indicating that your business and its offerings are dubious at best.

Under NO CIRCUMSTANCES  debit my bank account for any amount. Additionally DELETE ALL REFERENCES TO MY SELF AND ANY CARD DETAILS HELD.

If my bank account is debited by your company or any connect trading name/ subsidiary / business partnership for ANY amount I will contact South Wales Police Fraud Division and TRADING STANDARDS providing them with this e-mail, AND point them to the significant number of on line testimonials of very annoyed, disgusted  and allegedly defrauded "previous" customers of your business(es). I will also insist the police and trading standards investigate your business practices with a view to potential prosecution.

I too today have been contacted today by sapphire and I foolishly gave my card details but was suspicious of call so googled number and see all these responses. I rang my bank who have said that there is no debit card payment for a £1 pending but to keep an eye on my account over the next few days and if any money goes out that I haven't authorised the bank will class this as fraud and will investigate. I DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES wish to become a member and if any money does  leave my bank account I too WILL contact the police!!!

    Like a fool
I too was caught out by these people, fortunately I cancelled my cards in time and only the initial £1 p&p was taken, caller was very convincing. When I phoned the bank to stop any payments going to sapphire they were unable to trace them properly to halt payments hence the cancelation of the card. These people have no morals!! I feel foolish for falling for the patter but won't be fooled again.

    Many thanks for this..
I got caught by the same call and have had numerous calls since trying to sell me something or other relative to the MR call. One caller tried to deny it and tried to sell me some sort of insurance on my Hotpoint washing machine, well being a good husband I really did not know the make of the washing machine and said the first name that came to mind so the only source of that call was the initial MR call. I have complained to the comapny and to an organization walled MRS which is supposed to be their governing body, not a lot of trust in anyone in that line of business but better than doing nothing I guess.

I received a call from a lady on 22nd April 2014 , stating she was calling from Sapphire Media Company. The telephone no given over the phone was 0843 507 0707,  & as I had completed a survey  i was entitled to  a  £20 petrol voucher.

I was advised the membership pack would arrive 3-5 days & that i could cancel Monday to Friday between 10:00 to 18:00 on the tel no 0843 507 0707 if i was not interested in the 14days trial period. The charge would then be £79.99.I paid the £1 postage, which was debited under MGI tel 0844 567 1020

I received pack with letter from Sapphire Membership Pembroke House Springmeadow Business Park Cardiff CF3 2ES hello@sapphiremembers.com   www.sapphiremembers.com with a billing date of 6/5/14 signed Bethan Eady Sapphire Membership Services confirming the tel no of 0843 507 0707. The letter is printed Any membership fees paid are non-refundable.Sapphire is owned and provided by Mefinance Ltd which is registered company in England and Wales.Company number 06596260.

I emailed my cancellation & have not been debited the membership fee,but due to the tel no quoted on the £1 transaction  of 0844 567 1020 that I googled, I have  since cancelled my bank card. Hope any of this helps others!

I'm glad I found this before I agreed to the £1 "They" give to charity, as if . I made the excuse I didn't have my card details to hand.
If anyone gives their card details no matter what, it is very difficult to prove that you didn't agree to whatever sum goes out.
NEVER GIVE OUT CARD DETAILS UNLESS 100% satisfied

I have received a call from a man with a Welsh accent saying he was calling after I have filled in an online survey. He said he wanted to send me a £20 fuel voucher. I said I couldn't recall doing any survey. At that I realised it was probably not a genuine caller so told him I wasn't interested and put the phone down.

I was rung twice today, the second time I heard loud celebrations and corks popping in the background, so they are obviously defrauding a great many people and are very proud of it.  They hung up on me when I wanted more information about the survey I supposedly completeted.

They have just rung again, Paul was his name and I told him to take my number off his data base as what he was doing was committing fraud and that any other calls would constitute harassment.  I also stated that I would call the police if they tried contacting me again.

What exactly is TPS and how do I go about registering myself on it?

Absolute liars, thieves & conmen! Do not fall for their story. I kept saying, 'yeah, what's the catch' but she sounded so genuine. However, 2 days later I got a call from my credit card company to check an amount as they thought it was suspicious & they had taken out the £79.99 2 days after the £1 was taken out & before the letter had even arrived. My cc company refunded me. I sent off my receipt for the £20 & surprise, surprise never received a penny. Every time I called them I was told a different story; the cheque was due apologies they had been inundated, then it had been dispatched from Vancouver so to allow 14 days, then it has been sent but they would fast track another one so I would get it in 7 days. Trading Standards are already well aware of them.

I have now been able to contact them on the freefone number above. Perhaps everyone should inundate them with calls. I told them I read reports that they are liars, fraudsters & thieves & that Trading Standards are well aware of them & she said of course as we work closely with trading standards! I told them my cc company had contacted me as they had taken £79.99 just 2 days after taking the £1 & she did not comment. I also told her I had contacted TS & that I would give them another 7 days for a cheque to arrive then would be going back to TS & Action Fraud. When the phone is answered it says ME Group.
