Having worked for this company in the past I believe I may be able to shed some light onto the workings of Cash Finance Direct.
Firstly, let me state that you have absolutely no chance of getting a loan through CFD without going through the same application process with a lender/lenders that you are matched with - FACT

    The Process:
Firstly you'll receive a text message. This message is not sent from CFD but from a marketing company because somewhere YOU have given your mobile number to a company and stated they can share/sell it - which they do. By the way, Emma is not real, nor is Sam, or Robin. (There is an Emma who works there who acts as the trainer/manager of nothing at CFD. Bit of a jobsworth and a really vile human being, no one likes her, but she pretends to the be the big 'I am')
You then ring a freephone / local rate number and speak to one of the sales team.
The agent may/will have a few bits of your details in front of them, name, date of birth, postcode etc. You'll confirm that with them, and state how much you're looking to borrow and what the purpose of the loan is for. You'll then be asked another marketing question about allowing CFD to share you details with other companies and organisations, if you say yes, then you've given CFD your permission to sell and pass on your details, so don't complain.
Then the last part of the script is telling you that you meet the criteria of CFD! Great news you think? The criteria of CFD is that you're over the age of 18, are a UK resident and have a regular income of more than £400 a month. (Pretty much everyone I spoke to met the criteria)
The agent will go on, and tell you that as you've met the criteria we (CFD) are able to progress your application straight away, and to do that, you'll need to speak to the processing team. The 'processing team' sit across the work benches just a few feet away from the sales team. The processing team are the dreaded 0906 numbers. The agent will then tell you the call charges and that they are fully refunded to you as well as giving you a unique 0906 number. (Each sales agent had their own number so commission could easily be worked out) and an 8 digit reference number. That reference number is simply the last 4 digits of the 0906 number and that days date. eg Telephoned Number 09061234567 and todays date 30/03, your reference number would be 45673003 last 4 digits 4567 and todays date 3003. Your reference number means diddly squat!

IF you then decided you want to speak to the processing team and ring the 0906 number you'll be greeted by a 10 second prerecorded message outlining the call charges and maximum call times.
You'll then be asked for your meaningless reference number and then asked for all your details all over again! This is because, "The data protection acts prevents the person who referred you to us from transferring all your details across" How true this is, I don't know. All I do know is that those agents working on the 0906 number don't have any of your details (they're not lying when they tell you that)
The job of the 0906 agent is to take all your details and keep you on the phone for 15 minutes (commission is paid if you're kept on the phone for over 14 minutes and 30 seconds)
After this you'll then be told that your details are going to be checked and you should ring ANOTHER 0906 number for the results team/results department/processing team/results lines after about 15 minutes. Again the full call costs of the next call are outlined to you, as well as when the money "COULD" be with you (24 hours for a payday loan or up to 14 days for a personal loan)

IF you then decide to ring back on the new 0906 number, you'll be kept on the phone for 10 minutes going through your details to make sure they're all correct. You'll then be given the names of lenders that you "may have a pretty good chance of success with" and when they might get in touch with you.

Basically, it's a long winded and expensive way of filling out an application form you can do online with a real loan company for free and in half the time. When I worked there I did question whether or not anyone got a loan out of it, from what others told me, they didn't think so either.

If you want your money back email the customer services team. Or write to them. You will get a refund but it may take 45 working days.
What I will say however, is that the customer is aware at all times of the cost of the call. It is the customer who made the decision to ring the 0906 numbers. No one forced them too. So when people complain about being ripped off and how much of a con it is...well it's not. You were told the costs involved and you chose to pay them. You have been warned.
    Hope this helps.

OK........... "You were told the costs involved and you chose to pay them"   should be matched by the earlier "The agent will then tell you the call charges and that they are fully refunded to you", so why the somewhat snide "You have been warned."?

At what stage in "The Process" is the refund process detailed?

Has it crossed your mind that people who are desperately seeking a loan are not necessarily paying attention to information about call costs?  They are concentrating on getting everything right so that they get the money they need.  When CFD were shown on Panorama, complete with sound, the CFD employee was not making a big point about how much the call was costing.  One thing you have confirmed is that people are kept on the 'phone for as long as possible, in order to ring up the charges.  There would be no point in doing that if they were making such a big point of a refund being available.  CFD also admitted, again on camera, that they made their money because 74% of people do not reclaim their call charges. Would that figure be so high if the costs were being explained?  I am afraid that you are fighting a losing battle trying to make CFD look good.

Believe me, I'm not trying to make CFD look good. The company is scum of the earth, their attitudes towards customers and staff is borderline illegal.
What I'm saying is that people sometimes need to accept part responsibility for their actions. It's too easy to just blame someone else.
I'm well aware of how they make their money. For every £1.53 per minute a customer would spend, CFD would take around 40 pence after VAT and phonepayplus had taken their share. I never attempted to spark an argument. What I tried to do, as someone who used to work there, was inform everyone of how they work, from an insiders perspective so people in future don't get roped in. Something I'm regretting doing.

Don't regret posting your message.  It is good to have it confirmed, from the inside, that they are the scum we always thought they were. It makes a pleasant change from the Corporate Drivel which they post with great regularity.  I accept what you said about responsibility, but hoped that you could see the other side as well. One thing you may have noticed is that quite a lot of posts are from the 'phone bill payers who have not realised that someone in the house has 'phoned CFD until it is too late.

No, you can only get charged if you ring them. The only way you can get charged if someone rings you if they reverse the call charges, in that instance you would first need to confirm you will accept the charge.

Hi all, I just started getting texts from these lot asking me call a local 01 number, don't want a loan from them as I dealt with them many years ago, at the time I was badly struggling financially and needed just about a grand to get sorted, bank would not help, credit score was poor and so on, I approached these and WAS promised a loan within 24 hours, when pushed I was repeatedly told yes money WOULD be in bank within 24hours, rang and applied using the premium number and guess what - NOTHING - a few days later got letter from them saying that I could get up to £500 from the provident or go and get a guarantor loan from FLM, phoned and complained and was told we got a loan didn't we!!, they had already been told that I had an account with provident and they were told that family and friends could not help, I then had to wait a couple of months for my then BT phone bill and then a further month or so with e-mail complaints sent for my refund which then took a further seven days to clear because it was a cheque!!! I think it cost around me £70+ quid for nothing, if you are really stuck don't try these, the provident and other doorstep lenders can be found direct and FLM is now Amigo and can be found with no upfront charges.
    Horrible nasty company.

I Joanne Shortland applied for a loan with you. I was told by 3 of your employees that I would be able to claim back the money from the phone call. As I've just seen on the internet you and all of your employees are very much out to rip people off. I will be taking action to a higher chain. It is disgusting on how you all can manage to do your so called job every day by conning so many people. I am not one of these many people to just leave and forget. It is very wrong what all your companies do to people. You will be hearing from me again if I do not hear from you. My mobile number is 07531789426.
