Didn't sound right to me so thankfully I googled it.

New name on the list is Ash Day.

Got a message from his mobile today... his latest email is danieljack18@gmail.com

Amazing how he contacted me through a simple portuguese advertising site like OLX.pt

Received an SMS today from 0428 465 117 from Michael responding to an add on carsales.com.au. Similar story to a few of the other posts. They asked for the final price, and wanted me to communicate via michael.sayer.111@gmail.com due to poor phone reception. Dodgy!

Just listed my car on Gumtree today and received two messages from the same number but different names and email addresses. One from Amos Rice and one from Mark Leitch.
Amosrice@gmail.com and Mrklongwrt@gmail.com.
Better add these to the scam pile.
Follow up email from Amos was that he was at sea and this was a surprise graduation gift for his son in the NT.
He was already in talks with a courier but could only use Paypal.
These blood sucking leaches really need to be stopped.

Same here, I thought it was strange too: Thank you for the mail,i am okay with the little details have read in the advert compare to the others have seen recently and please does it have any more history I should be aware of and why are you selling if you don't mind my asking.Where is it located at the moment  and I will really appreciate if you can email more info.

Am buying it for my holiday,because i'll be coming soon from our rig as am a petroleum project engineer on a rig offshore (I work with New Zealand Oil and Gas (NZOG) ,i won't be able to come for the inspection due to the nature of my work,i would have love to call in person but we have call restriction due to bad weather condition our satellite server has been down.
In regards to payment ,all i will need is your paypal payment email or better still bank details and name to set up purchase,as i don't have access to my bank account online as am not with my credit card details here on our mine site but i have my ANZ bank account linked up with my PayPal account so I will be paying you through PayPal to your nominated bank account .Have been introduce to a reputable shipping company that will handle the delivery after the payment clears into your account.I will really appreciate if you can email more info..

Avoid the above nmbr and any reference to it!
Recommend reporting it to Gumtree - they are far behind the "8 ball" it taking any action to avoid scammers targeting their customers.

Suspected scam SMS from sharonhair001@outlook.com looking to "buy" an item off me on Gumtree. Needs to be picked up today apparently, he/she is not in town etc. but willing to pay cash into bank or Paypal account.

I posted a vehicle on Gum Tree and had a text from this same number, saying he was interested in my vehicle. Email address frezie.jon002@gmail.com

I got the same this morning at 5am same story same email same number but i stupidly replied took me a few hours before i realised i was being scammed i have reported them and i gave them a pick up address for the prison. they really need to be stopped
