keep calling me to ask to call back for an inmate in jail!!!!!! how they got my cell number ? I don't know anyone in jail. is it a scam to collect money?

I get at least one of these calls a day - it's a prison phone use number - I just registered on the DON NOT CALL SITE

I got a call from this number at 8:31 pm. 9-21-17. I didn't answer.

inmate prison want to set up so they can charge to by phone. i know no one in prison. this is 2nd  call they used a different number yesterday

This is still going on we started receiving  calls 2 days ago from Davidson County correctional facility.  1st call wasn't understandable but the second call had a recorded voice of my father stating his last name.  Our daughter hung up when they asked for payment options as my father is still safe at home  and never been in jail.    Sounded like a big SCAM to me.

I keep getting calls from this number 1-800-483-8314? Every night around 9:00pm. This Needs to STOP ASAP!!

Scam jail call.  Don't answer.

We received a call at 4:07PM on CHRISTMAS DAY!!!  We weren't home, but the recorded message left was that someone from prison was trying to make a collect call.  Another message was left, a few hours prior to this one , from another number, also leaving recorded message that a prisoner was attempting a collect call.  That was a 713 area code (Houston, TX) number and "OFFENDER CALL" appearing as the name, was recorded on our caller ID.  These scammers are very creative when trying to come up with their plots to get people to answer their phones.

This number continuously calls on a cell and I want the calls to stop.  I don’t know anyone in jail!!!   Stop!!!

does anyone know how to get these calls to stop - i don't know anyone in prison and i keep blocking but they come through all day long??? anyone who can help ... i'm not calling this number back no way

mike thank u for the info everyone was yelling @ me telling me it was a scam...it turned out to be the son of a friend who passed away and needed help....thank u again

Scammmmmm I will not give you a credit card number, bank number or anything else. A$$ holes

This is the second type of call I have suspected as a serious scam in the last month. The first tried the Grandma?scam, and at the end of the call knew my address, and threatened to kill me. This one from the above number is obviously from jail or prison. The guy sounded as though he had a British accent with a bad cold.  This really ticks me off.

Started receiving calls from this number last night. First call came at 11p.m. Got calls 3 times during night and then keeps leaving a message about an inmate at some prison in Texas. I listened to first message after first call and then just started deleting. I never did answer. I have now blocked  number. This is ridiculous as I do not know anyone in prison or jail and never have.

I do not know any one in jail, or prison....I receive 15-20 calls a day!!! .... This is not a random call since the recording tells u the name of the caller, the first 10 calls came from the same person, the next cluster at 3 at a time came from a different person, the following 3 came from yet another person, so in and so on.. This went on for a month and since i did not accept and my phone was on charge and i was not near it when these calls started coming in, my voice mail message, states hi... You have reached lynn..I can not take your call at this time but leave a message..... Sooooo..... These people now have my first name... Once the 1-800-483-8314 number was blocked, my phone doesn't ring through verizon but the messages are still being given to the inmate..... Because i no longer know i'm getting these calls and they are blocked..,..I still get up to 25 calls a day with a message left on my voicemail the only difference is like i said the phone no longer rings but they still hear my message... So for any one to say,." it's some one you know" is false and for this to be going on for months and not bring able to contact any one about this number allowing inmates to contact random people over and over is just friggin ridiculous!!!
