By posting your home # here, you have just guaranteed that it will land in a few dozen databases. Not a very good move. Just sayin'...

I too am getting nonstop phone calls from this number and I assured them that I do not have an outstanding bill with Macy's and all of my business with them is not charged to a Macy's card.  The representative ask me to fax my bank statement to them to prove that I didn't owe this bill. I refused to do so!

I keep getting this call, I did realize I paid my bill late but they got my address wrong and when I realized it I called and asked them to fix it.  They still haven't fixed my address and they're blaming that on me. Which isn't fair. I just got my computer back so I couldn't pay it online and I wasn't in the mood to make a special trip just to Macys to pay my bill when the last time I did that the registers were down and my payment was messed up. I explained to the lady who answered when I called back and she said it was fine and she'd stop the calls for a week yet she didn't and I still get them everyday...many times a day. On my phone I found a way to block numbers so I was able to do that. I'd reccommend if you have a phone that you can do that with, do it if you want the calls to stop

I read ALL the threads below and called the number (800-511-3207) anyway. Turns out to be a real Macy's #. No pressure by the person on the other end but they did want to inform me that we have 2 Macy's cards, one has an overdue balance. The one with the overdue balance was a closed account. I told them we'd pay it at the store, and they were fine with that. I only had to give them my phone number and last name. He gave me the last four digits of both account numbers along with which one was past due, along with the amount. I then called Macy's Customer Service # (877) 493-9207 which is published on their website.  Once with a service rep, and without any knowledge of the conversation I just had by calling the first number, the Cust Svc Rep verfied we did have an overdue balance, on a closed account, and the dollar amount she gave me was identical to the amount the first person gave me, along with the last four of the account number.

So at least we all know that the (800) 511-3207 is valid!

"Dan" must be one of the scammers.  Ignore anyone who posts here claiming that this is a legitimate number.  It's not.  If you want to deal with your Macy's account without getting scammed, call the number on the back of the card or, better yet, go to the Macy's store and pay it there.

This number is from the Macy’s credit card collections department. If your phone number is linked to a Macy’s credit card account with a negative balance, they will call your number to collect. If they’re calling your number in error, simply call them back and ask them to remove your number from the account it’s linked to, if it’s not your account. All you need to give them is your full name and the last two digits of your social security number. Dilemma solved!

It's ridiculous the number and speed of flash responses defending the scam as legit here.  You can see for yourself how many people are getting scam calls from these folks in the past few weeks.  OK, whatever, Florida, Dan, and whoever else you scammers want to call yourselves, do yourselves a favor and don't hang up when people try calling you back.  You are just outing yourselves as a cold-call phone phishing scheme.

And to all the new comer readers here, use some common sense.  Do NOT call some sketchy number that's not listed on your Macy's card and provide them with any information.  Do not give them your name and do not give them even one digit of your social security number.  If you want Macy's customer service, call the number on the back of your Macy's card or go to the store.

I get 5-10 calls a day. I don't even shop at Macy's and don't have a credit card. So, what gives? Probably not phishing, but they have old phone numbers and the computer will call relentlessly until a payment is made on behalf of the phone number the original purchaser gave them. Why can't people understand that phone numbers DO NOT go with the house and that they can be changed at ANY TIME.

This is a scammer call using MACY's name. They call night and day non-stop. How can the attorney general and the phone company allow this. Please report this phone number to the police. It is another scammer.

I took the liberty to call them back. Here is what I found out about 800-511-3207. It is a 3rd party company SCO Technologies based in India, contracted by Macy's. At least this is what the person said. The person on the other line stated, that it is about an account holder issue and not for advertising purposes. (I will have to verify that. I am very careful with these things).
I could not verify what it was about, because I didn't provide any account or other relevant data to this person. I did not mention whether I have or don't have a Macy's account.
The person on the other line gave me a phone number 800-545-1256, which might be a Macy's number. (I will have to verify this too).
I have an employee number and a name of the SCO person and will keep this on file if needed for additional actions.

    Here is some help:
I always ask for employee number, company name, physical address and mention that I record those data. I also let them know that I am on national do-no-call register and verify all information they give me. I am usually turning to phone call in a question and answer play, where I ask most of the question. After a while, I decide how to proceed. I had one 800# calling me over and over with some insurance stuff and let them know at the end of the phone call, that I have enough information to pass it on to my lawyer. I usually request the complete deletion of my contact information within a time frame of 2 weeks and write things down to track it if needed again. If I would receive another phone call or even email after that time, I would provide all data to my lawyer - no joking... this is what I will do, even if it costs me money the first hand. All in all, I am able to reduce the frequency of such calls a lot.

Received several calls from them.  When you answer, you're prompted to call a separate number about your Macy's account (which I have).  Called them back and asked why they called, claimed he is with Macy's and Bloomingdale's, prompted me for my account number, name, phone number, last four of SSN.  Asked him if he's with a collections group and he said he's with Macy's credit services.  Asked him where he's located and he said India.  Thought this was suspicious so called Macy's credit services directly (using the number on the back of my card) and confirmed that this is indeed a Macy's-sponsored call.

Play it on the safe side though and call them directly using the number listed on their site if you need to reach them.

Started getting the calls last week. Googled the number to find out what I could about it. Never have had any department store cards or accounts so I knew there was an error. Called the 800 number a couple of times and never could get a human on the phone so I called the Credit Services number that I found on the Macy's website (877-493-9207).

I just kept saying "representative" to all the automated questions and actually got a helpful fellow on the line in less than a minute. All I had to give him was the phone number they were calling and my name. He discovered that my number was listed in an account for a different name that was in collections and assured me that they would remove the number from that account. Then he transferred me to another fellow who allegedly removed my number from the calling queue as we spoke.

We'll see if he really did, but I'm pretty confident. I must say that dealing with them wasn't nearly as bad as I expected after reading this and several other online threads about this number. They were polite and professional and spoke English at least as well as I can.

This doesn't make sense. This is not how the accounts are set up at Macy's. The telephone is not a Macy's number.
