these people keep sending me text messages i do not want and are taking all of my credit i have texd stop but they have ignored me i want them to stop NOW PLEASE

i have just found out from my mobile phone provider that i have been being charged for juicy 88818 texts that i keep receiving which ive not .signed up for and each time they've been texting me they are charging £1.50 which has meant my bill has been sky high. How can I claim back all this money they've robbed from me?

I have been recieving these texts for three months now and am paying out all the time I have texted to say stop what else can I do and why are they not regulated?

I have been caught with this scam also and have sent a stop text which will hopefully work, will find out when I top up and see if they start sending more texts. I am absolutely furious and have tried emailing orange on their complaints procedure but was returned saying they are updating their email system...... grrrrrrrrrrr always something. I am now putting my complaints in writing to orange as I feel it will have more clout than a phone call

After receiving texts from 88818 and having £1.50 for each text taken off my mobile credit, I have now sent all the information to ICO the Information Commissioners Office with details of these texts.

PhonepayPlus has just fined LottobyText £250,000 for this scam.

BACKGROUND

Between 3 October 2011 and 28 November 2012, the Executive received 267 complaints in relation to a subscription-based competition service (the “Service”) operated by the Level 2 provider, Marketing Craze Limited. The Service operated on shortcodes 85200, 87770 and 82526.

Complainants generally stated that they had not consented to be charged, or that they had been misled into entering the Service

SANCTIONS

Initial Overall Assessment

The Service had a clear and highly detrimental impact, directly or indirectly, on consumers.
• The Service had the sole purpose of generating high revenues and did so through intentional or recklessly misleading promotions.

The Tribunal’s initial assessment was that, overall, the breach was very serious.

Sanctions Imposed

Having regard to all the circumstances of the case including the level of consumer harm and the fact that consumers were misled on a large scale, the Tribunal decided to impose the following sanctions:

• A fine of £250,000; and
• A requirement that the Level 2 provider must refund all consumers who claim a refund,

Call them and stop it, they send 3 a week to me and just found out as thought they were junk. text stop all to 88818. 1'50 A MIN!!!!. Can't get refund and mobile operators can;t block it. good luck. call 08444457707 and speak to them direct. it appears I entered an online comp!

ive been getting three texts every tues, bang on 11.30am !  i never read them and deleted them as junk. .. turns out ive been paying £4.50 a month!! .. i have no idea how they got my number. i have text STOP .. today so lets wait and see.. but am so so mad!! .. so site tells me how to get my money back .. been going on for months!!!!

I just topped up my phone £5 this morning and i instantly received 3 text messages about competitions. I then checked my balance straight away and discovered they had charge £4.50 for the texts!! It was bloody aggravating!!!

each time you reply it wiil cost you £1.50. Beware i,ve been conned to the tune of £38.00

I had weekly batches of 3 x "Text Info Services" on my Talkmobile bill @ £1.25 per instance, which was £15 of unexpected charges within a month. I'm on a very low monthly tarrif of just £8 per months, so that tripled my monthly bill!! I was advised to send STOP in capitals to 88818 and have done this. I was also advised to follow it up by calling an Ombudsman service (free) on 0800500212 - they told me that I mhad probably unknowingly signed up for a "free" competition service and that they are sending me weekly updates @ £1.25 a time. The company is SB7 Mobile Ltd and their customer service number is 0845 8697559
