Call on 4/21/10 from someone named "Erica" from "Ascension Point" asking to talk with someone authorized to speak about the 'affairs' of a recently deceased relative.  When I asked for more information (as in "and what are you selling?") the caller said she was not selling anything, that her company 'handled the affairs of deceased individuals' but refused to go into further detail. Since I am not that close a relative of the deceased, I offered to give callback information to the executor of the estate IF she would give me more information.  She refused, since I was apparently not 'authorized.'  I took her information and passed it on the the executor, who said he may or may not follow up with a return call to "Erica."  Does anyone out there know anything about this so-called Ascension Point company?

To the Morons at 888-806-9074: IF you are going to try and scam the relatives of dead people out of money, THE LEAST YOU COULD DO is hire people who are SMARTER than the people you are trying to scam. I pity the relatives that are actually scammed by your monkey-chatter: They must be as ignorant as drunken lemurs to fall for your scam-artist bullcrap.

Credit reports have already told me Who is owed What. So I had a pretty good idea you were a bunch of lying, conniving, worthless vultures before I returned your call, and before I checked your 888-number via this website, and others.

The same-voiced woman who had left a message on my answering machine asked ME what my call was in reference to, and whose call I was returning ("HeLLo, 'KEIL': Knock-Knock, Anybody Home There?!").  She then put me on hold to rifle through papers and try and figure out ANOTHER creditor's name to work her scam-magic with, since the creditor she blurted out was no longer a creditor of my stepfather's.

I've given mom, who is a feisty old 80-something, permission to cuss your vulturous [***] up one side and down the other. Whatever they're paying you to try and commit fraud on the relatives of dead people will probably seem like chickenfeed by the time she gets through ripping you a new one.  You'll doubtless reconsider your decision to take up bogus-debt collection rather than suck dix for $5 a trick, which is no doubt what you were doing before you landed this gig, 'KEIL' at 888-806-9074 ...bwahahahaha!!!!

Got a call on my answering machine from a Casey Springer, Ascension Point, who gave this call back number and asked me to tell her who's responsible for the estate pf my mother -- who died recently. I told the executor of the estate, after checking it out online, not to call and to beware as this looks like a scam.

I checked out their business. They are a national organization. They have 6 offices. Main office is in Ca... other offices are in NY, TX, FL, PA and AZ. This is a very crafty company. They do attorney outsourcing. So they are off the hook in terms of licensing and bonds. They don't do any of the actual  dirty work so they have virtually no complaints with the BBB.They let the lawyers handle all the actual lawsuits. They have over 350 lawyers around the country in their network. I verified thru the  Martindale directory of Attorneys. They are also affiliated with over 2000 process servers! Debt buyers and collection agencies are using these guys to slam consumers with lawsuits in order to collect money. Not very nice guys but legal.  I will keep a lookout for more info and post it here

    Nice try, Ascension Point
Thank you for the info you provided. I was contacted by "Regina"about who handled my late father's estate. He passed away over a year ago, and we were estranged at the time of his death for many years. So I was quite surprised that they had any information on me. When I called them back,I asked who they were and what they wanted. They asked If I was handling my fathers estate. When I said no they said they would remove my information from their list. They never answered any of my questions. I could not find any info on them through reverse directory look up. I had a bad feeling about them from the beginning and I'm so glad I could find some answers here. I will warn other members of my family.

I too received a phone call today from "Warner @ 888-420-2510" and from Regina McKee from "Ascension Point @ 888-806--9074". This group of scavengers wanted money from my mother's estate. How far have these people "descended" to make a buck! Thanks for posting a reply about this group. My mother had nothing left to give much less have someone take.

Call came from this number: 760-637-3833, referencing 888-806-5348. This is another rookie bottom-feeding debt purchaser buying out of statute (stale) debt.  Company  name  (Primary Portfolio Valuation Company, or PPVC) provided by other people on this site is not registered with California Secretary of State and it is illegal for them to do business in California.  "Law DOG" is bogus, a shill for this supposed company, trying to convince any reader of these 800notes that this is a legitimate company.  IT IS NOT A LEGITIMATE COMPANY!  DO NOT INTERACT WITH THEM!  They may have a California lawyer calling for them, but that lawyer cannot do a damn thing to you if the company he represents is operating illegally in California.  The California State Bar would be interested in knowing about representation of an illegally operating entity.  Be very careful, Charles P. Brown of Oceanside, California, State Bar Number 159358. (are you "Law DOG"????). While we are on the subject, the City of Oceanside does not have a record of a company called Primary Portfolio Valuation Company.   They were able to confirm, however, that Attorney Charles P. Brown of Oceanside, with law offices in Oceanside, has not paid city taxes since the year 2000.  That's right, taxes not paid in 11 years.  Good luck with your new company Mr. Brown.

Thanks to all posters for the info on this site. Just got a call from Ascension Point regarding my late deceased wife. Sounded like a scam ("urgent"  "very important" etc.) but wasn't certain. Nice to know others care enough to spread the word about the true scum among us. Oh, this particular huckster called himself "Tony."

This company now calls itself Ascension Point Recovery Services, LLC. I got a somewhat generic letter (3 weeks after my mother passed) expressing sympathy and "Please have the person who is responsible for paying the outstanding bills from the decedent's estate contact our office. We can be reached toll free at (888) 806-9074 for more information." I'm sure they'r just scanning the obits and they do catch some unsuspecting people who fall for this. But yes, this IS A SCAM!!!

voice message left at home from Karen w/Ascension Point wanting to know if I was the person handling the matters of my deceased mother. 888-806-9074
I returned the call and was told that Britney would be the person handling this matter now not Karen.  They would not give me any information, my mother died two years ago and I had not spoken w/her in years.. they could not or rather would not give any information, other than to say they are not selling anything and they are just wanting to update their records.  Since I was not the person able to handle her matters they could not give any information out...

This morning, my brother had received a phone call from an (888)860-9473 number. He said the lady on the phone had asked if he was in charge of my late grandmother's estate. He told them, "Never call me again looking for my grandmother's money". and hung up. He told me about the phone call and I called the number he gave me. I spoke to a Candice Antoine-Woods at extension 4298. She told me that she wasn't allowed to discuss details with me but did give me a little insight on how she had received my brother's number and yet, didn't have my father's or aunt's-whom are next of kin...she said they pull up numbers from a relatives search and they call those people hoping to find the executor of the estate. She offered to remove the phone number, but told me that the next time they run a search, she couldn't guarantee that the number wouldn't pop up and she'd be phoning again. I told her that my family has a C&D so she cannot collect any monies from the deceased family anyways, according to the fair debt collections act-they can't even talk to you.
Hope this gets the attention it needs to get this place looked into.

Thanks to everyone who has posted on this site.  My ex-wife passed away in March.  I received the letter from Ascention Point Recovery Services, LLC asking for the executor of the estate or the person responsible for paying her bills which I responded to in writing telling them there was no estate.  I have since received countless calls from this phone number but they never leave a message on my answering machine.  I now know to ignore them.
