- Cheri| 2 repliesI had just found this site, My sister and I have been battling Ascession Point since June 2012, Our mother passed away in May 2012. The monies they said that was owed was a card that she had insurance on, so I contacted the bank, whom has a zero balance on the account and the fraud dept. informed me about the company trying to scam us. I would have never known that it was a scam, I thought it was just a mix up at the bank. Thank God the bank told me about them. But beware, if you talk to them once, you will never get rid of them. The lady we spoke with at Acession Point was Jonni Eggart!!

- Ladypigtail888-806-9074; Name was Kenssee. Likewise, my father had no debts with these folks. They originally started calling my father's sister, who has never had anything to do with his finances and hasn't even lived in the same city as he did for many years. I had her give them my number and although they claim that he has a debt, they can't give me details. No idea who, what, or why he owes! Ironic, considering that I have taken care of his and my mother's finances for many years!

- not getting phished scammedEIther these people are scammers or idiots. they wanted to speak to someone authorized to talk about the former owners bills.
We bought the house a year ago. They used whatever internet resources and found our telephone number and asked to speak to the former owner. OMG that person is DEAD = We only know this because the neighbors told us that the owner moved to Florida, and then died from cancer.
HOW Can a collection agency be so incredibly DUMB that they don't look in the papers for the Obituaries before they start to harass the new owners of the person who is no deceased to try and collect money from us to pay the bills of a TOTAL STRANGER !!!!!! We figure they are SCAMMERS !!!
And they called back until we threatened LEGAL action.. WHat is wrong with these money collectors????/ OMG. We are NOT paying someone else's bills !!!!!!!!!! What is with these idiots Is there NO PROTECTION for us, the people who bought a house but have NO IDEA who what or why about the owners? NOW they have connected OUR PRIVATE TELEPHONE NUMBER with a person who is deceased, and we are now most likely going to be inundated with more calls from credit collectors ???????????- Caller: ascension point recovery services.

Caller ID is "for Sears Col"
Calls started about two mos. ago
Husband died in Oct. 2006
Can I get this number blocked?- Caller: Ascension Point

- Widowed in COMy experience is like all the others. My husband died last Oct - have been getting these calls from Ascension Point for two weeks. I have not picked up. I really appreciate this website and the postings of all contributors or possibly I might have.
Re blocking the calls: In CO, we have a "do not call" system that we can sign up for, but it does not work well. However on my phone I can block them. It is an older Panasonic phone/answering machine - dial *66 and then put in the number. Oftentimes, the marketeer just changes numbers, but in this instance, I believe it will work as these people seem to have had the same number for a few years. Look in your phone manual to see if you might have the same capability.- Caller: Ascension Point
- D. JohnstonI've been getting robo calls from this number, 3x a week, since my mother passed. I also recieved a letter. Since I've never responded in 2 months, I thought the calls would stop. Today I received a message from a live person. My phone number is a registered "DO NO CALL", they have no business calling it. I left them a message and told them to stop calling. If I get another call, I will report it to the do not call registry.

- Sac.My father passed away recently. No sooner did he passed my mom started to receive calls 2-to-3 times a day from this number (888) 806-9074. The automated machine would always leave the same message: "Please have the person who is responsible for paying the outstanding bills from the decedent's estate contact our office. We can be reached toll free at (888) 806-9074 for more information."
What makes this such a "scam" is I spoke with the CC company that my father owed money too, they said they haven't started any paperwork and any legitimate collection company would provide the name of the company they are representing. Do pick up these calls and don't call them back.
I'm glad to see this website and all of these postings informing people.- Call type: Debt collector
- KimMy father passed away in November. My mother didn't start getting these calls until I called Citibank to let them know my father passed and my mother had a heart attack and could not afford to pay this bill that was only under my father's name. They were pretty nice when I explained the situation but I'm sure they will wait a few months and call back and I'll tell them the same thing. I'm guessing this is one of those companies that purchase debts cheap that the big companies write off. So I don't believe it's a scam just nasty debt collectors.

How did the woman get this information, who are these people called ascension point? What do they know
about my deceased family member? This sounds to me like a scam, trying to get personal info from my
family, And I am not going to bite into this one. Everyone Beware!!!- Caller: Ascension Point
- JafmotherinlawToday got a call from this number wanting information about my daughter-in-law's deceased mother. Thank goodness her mom is NOT dead. Her dad did die 10 years ago, She maded it sound like it was for uncollected life insurance. When I explained this to Stephanie Hostetler she shut up. I was more concerned how they got our number since technically we are not related.
It really worries me there are people out there working harder at scamming people than they would if they had a real job. Be careful abouting dying, you never know who will be looking for you in a few years.
Glad I researched this before calling my daughter-in-law's mom.- Caller: Ascencion Point
- ChrisThanks to all for posting information on this compnay. My wife got a gneric letter. Looked like a scam to me. All of your collective posts have verified that for me. Needless to say we will not be contacting them!

- PACalling about my dead brother-in-law's estate. My husband is the executor of the estate which is insolvent and letters have been sent out to that effect to the listed creditors. We just started getting a slew of these calls lately - 6 months after his death. After reading these notes, I see it's probably a scammer or third party trying their luck with the estate. I'm just upset they are calling my MIL and FIL and upsetting them as well. Grrr.

Finally today they left a voice mail - company name is Asension Point and they left a call back number. I'm glad I researched the company name - I will not be calling them back.

- FLThese people have called twice, leaving a message about wanting to talk to the person in charge of my late brother's financial affairs. He died several years ago, so it's interesting that they are calling now. Not to mention, I have no idea how they got my phone number. I contacted our Attorney General's office to let them know about this company. Then I called "Kensy" back, at Ascention Point, to discuss. It wasn't Kensy who answered, it was Joan (?) who assured me the call was being recorded and that I would not personally be liable for this so-called debt. She then told me I had to confirm two out of three pieces of information: exact date of death, last known address, last four numbers in social security number. Unfortunately, I was not able to confirm any of those things, so she told me she was unable to give me any information. I told her it was too bad because now whoever is claiming they are owed money won't get anything. She said she would make a note of it in our call record. Bogus, bogus, bogus. What could they do with the three pieces of information they wanted "confirmed"? A lot, I'm thinking.

- EileenNumber keeps calling the office. A robo message tells me to keep holding repeatedly. Don't know who it is or what they want but the owners of this business love to get back at scammers and report all unwanted and suspicious activity even to the local PD if required.
- David xxxxxA new name, same number. Trent at Ascension Point 888-806-9074. Left a case number as a reference for the executor to call back with. I don't think I'll be passing this on to the executor, other than a warning about this company. Thanks to this site and all posters!
