This shameless group has been trying to get money from me since my husband was killed in a car accident six months ago.  They want $17,000.my husband had no credit with the company they mentioned. I said there is only $1,100 in his estate account. She told me to wait while she checked with her boss. Two seconds later she came back and said they would take the $11,000. She must have thought I said $11,000.  She acted like she was doing me a favor.  There is a special place in hell for scum like them in my opinion.

Call on 7/27/2015 & 8/3/2015 from someone from "Ascension Point" asking to talk with someone authorized to speak about the 'affairs' of a recently deceased familey member (My x-husband of 24 yrs) When I asked for more information as in " how did you get my phone number" the caller said she didn't know.  I do not have the same last name as the deceased, we haven't been married for 24 yrs - how did they get my number??  The guy that I spoke with said  that his company 'handled the affairs of deceased individuals' but refused to go into further detail. I told them that I would contact  the 'authorized person' and have him contact them.  They were pleased. Once I googled their phone number, and read some of the entries, I called them back and gave them a piece of my mind.  She just wanted to transfer me to someone that could handled my phone call.....I hung up.

Ascension point is calling me several times a day.  Once they left a message that this was in reference to who was responsible to the expenses of --(name)--, a neighbor who had moved out of state years before he died.  When we were renumbered for 911, his old house number became our house number.  I refuse to pick up the phone when I see it is them.

The most important thing in your post is this: survivors (except for a spouse in some cases) are not obligated to pay a deceased person's debt.  Some people have no estate, except for life insurance and personal property.   Companies like this are trying to squeeze money from people who are not legally responsible.

They called me this morning wanting to know who is responsible for my brother's financial obligations.  He died in May.  I told them that his mail was going to his son, and they already knew his name.  My brother had no estate, just his life insurance and his mobile home.  His car was leased, and the leasing company took it back.  My nephew and niece are not obligated to pay his bills.  But I'm sure they will try to make them think they are.  I have warned them of this.

Some one from this number (1-888-806-9074) call to discuss the financial matters of my late mother-in-law. I told her I don't know of any such matters. She then asked for a number of the person who has authority. I told give me your information & I will pass this information along to the appropriate person. I thought something didn't seem right considering, they are calling my house about my late mother-in-law (who has passed away over more than a year now) when records show that my father-in-law (her husband) is alive & well. This person name was "Christy".

Got a message from JOSH PAULSON of this "Ascension Group" this afternoon (after they had already called twice today). My mom passed away ONE MONTH AGO TODAY.  Haven't received her ashes yet. I too know the credit card company she had a card with and highly doubt that since I've yet to receive any correspondence from them, that these sick [***] are nothing but scam artists. SCUM BAGS

Ascention Point is a legitimate company that handles the accounts for several store credit cards.  They will try to recoup the money from the estate but if there is no estate then they just close the case.  If you have not filed probate and if the deceased does not have an estate your are not liable for the debt.

I received two calls from this number 3 weeks after my husband's funeral, September 17 &18,2015.  I waited for a message but the caller hung up before answering picked up. I received a letter the 18th addressed to Estate of my husband insinuating there is an outstanding account assigned to collections. Wrong. No outstanding bills, no accounts in collections. This followed an offer of deepest condolences. Who says this is legal??? Harassment is not legal. Only vultures prey on the vulnerability of those who have lost a precious loved one. I cannot believe that I am the first in 5 years to report this lack of humanity to the National Do Not Call registry!!! So why cannot the Fair Collections Practices Act and the Attorney General  put this company out of business.  The letter was sent by AscensionPoint Recovery Services,LLC, 200 [***] Rapids Blvd.Suite200, [***] Rapids,MN 55433-5876

These bottom feeders have been calling every day several times a day looking for the person who handles the estate of my father who passed away a year ago.  They sent a generic letter which I have not intention of responding to because I know, that I know, my dad did not have any outstanding debts that these heartless people who have any right to get their hands on.  I have everything "in check" and these people need to be punished for feeding on the state people are in after loosing their loved ones.  Shame on them!!!

Just got another call today but didn't answer, there was no name on the phone, just toll free call. I actually forgot about them so did this search. My husband died 2 mos ago. Back then I called the 2 credit card companies that he was using (they were in his name only) they told me I wasn't responsible for paying the balance. I planned to pay them anyway but apparently I didn't get to it soon enough. Ascension called about the same dollar amount  ($5,000+) that my husband charged to his card. So while they tell you you aren't responsible for the credit card balance, they can go after any estate in your loved one's name. Unfortunately I have to set up an estate to access some stock.

    Not scammed after checking
I received a call on my landline at home and today at work from these scammers, asking to "speak with someone handling the affairs of the late (my wife's name)".  Ignored the first call, ignoring the second call and will ignore all subsequent calls.  Sad...

My brother passed away almost 2 years ago in late 2013 and last summer, beginning in June of 2015, my 80+ year old parents began receiving calls from these d-bags, sometimes up to 5 times a day. My mother answered the phone once, was told the call was coming from Ascension Point and that they wanted to talk to the person in charge of my brother's estate. My mother responded that they had the wrong number and hung up on them. My mother then called the state Attorney General's office and turned them in. The next time AP called, my mother said that they would be hearing from the AG. The calls stopped. In the meantime, my brother's widow had started to receive calls from them as well. The calls ceased after she informed them that the AG would be in contact with them. Now I am getting calls from them on my personal cell phone so you can guess what I am going to do....
