- K.Thanks for posting that guys it really helped! This lady called me today and she was extremely rude yelling and screaming and even hung up on me. I called the Law Society of Ontario and they did not have a listing for this number! I mentioned to the law society person that they are claiming to be Palmer and Boccia and they say they do know a lawyer with that last name but the number does not match it.
I am almost convinced this is some kind of fraud looking for information so DONT GIVE ANY INFORMATION when they ask you for it. These are strangers who don't even have their "law firm" on file at the Law Society.
The Law Society of Ontario told me to file a complaint about it online. You have to visit www.lsuc.on.ca
Click under "for the public"
Then Click "complaining about a lawyer or paralegal"
Download the complain form and send it to them by fax or by mail. I am sure once they see all the complaints they will do something!
I hope this helps! and this should help all of us realize that no matter what people claim to be, they are complete strangers and we should not provide them with any information before knowing 100% who they are and who they work for.
Goodluck guys! and don't let these rude people ruin your days! - former employee| 3 repliesTo the last post in Sept....You must be the biggest moron alive.....People are allowed to have more than one number.....Why don't you pay your Bills....If it Canadian Tire or any other acct sent to Pomer and Boccia.....Again it is a law firm and you should've asked the law society that if they are able to do collections..........SMARTEN UP DELIQUENT LOSER
- MattI work in a government office, we just received 4 different phone calls on different lines for someone who hasn't worked here in 2 years, with at least 3 other people having used each of the phones since their departure (term contracts).
Bloody rats, won't take "go away" for an answer, continue to hound us.
Our security is advising us to track the calls for a case file for RCMP. - former emploeeYou know what is funny, your former employee has the legal responsibility to contact there creditors to update info SUCH AS A NEW NUMBER OR A NEW EMPLOYER.....Matt why don't you try to get a hold of that former employee and ask them why they did not update their info......Instead of people doing a job just like the rest of you....We are not bottom feeders but do have family to support as well....You can file all the calls to the RCMP but they will do NOTHING......just like the telemarketers.....Matt try and get a hold of that employee and see where the trail takes you down....And then you'll see how much trouble we have trying to locate people who go DELIQUENT.....then post your info when you are done
- minnie| 1 replythis is a real law firm that does collections,
dont fool yourself people do the proper research! - Minniewonder if there is blog where people can complain about people who dont pay back their bills....
- BrysonRemember this:
"The Ontario Limitation Act 2002 , came into force on January 1, 2004. It sets two years as the term (Section 4). This limitation will be reinstated where the debtor acknowledges the debt or makes a partial payment towards repayment of his debt. If the default occurred prior to January 1, 2004, the creditor will continue to have 6 years to pursue the claim. However, if the default occurred after January 1, 2004 then the 2-year rule applies.
These guys are jokes, do a search and look at their website. I've never seen a law firm’s website that doesn't give you a bio of all their lawyers, (not saying there aren’t any, just haven’t seen one). To me this is a sign that they are fakes. Look at my quote above and if your debt is out of the status of limitation they can't touch you. I REPEAT THEY CAN'T DO ANYTHING TO YOU. Just ignore their letters and ignore their calls. If you want tell them go ahead sue me!!! If they tried to do it, the courts would reject them because their status of limitation is up. With me they are talking about a debt from the 90s. There is no way a court will look at a debt from the 90s. But remember people, they will threaten you by sendint you bogus letters; they will start making up laws and other things to scare you. IT'S ALL A BLUFF AND THEY WANT YOU TO FALL FOR IT.
To those "workers" on here that keep saying pay your debts, I say to you. It was between me and Canadian Tire. I don't believe in any third party nonesense - like contact resources or 4th party - like Pomer & Boccia. Similar to the criminal code and summary conviction offenses, the police must charge you within 6 months or they lost their opportunity. Would I go to the police after 6 months and say I want to be charge for a summary conviction offence even though legally they can’t? So why would I pay a debt that is out of the status of limitation?
People think about this, would a big business give up on collecting on a debt, especially when it is worth so much money and give it to a two-bit group? The company is not going after you because they know they can't because it’s too late, but Pomer & Boccia, Contact Resources and other jokes hope you don't know they can’t legally get it from you and their only hope is to scare and intimidate you into paying them. Do not negotiate with them and end up paying a cent and do not acknowledge the debt in writing!!!
One more time if the status of limitation is up and in my case it’s something from the 90s, tell them go ahead. - BrysonOh yeah,
I was just doing some searches on youtube and came across this ontario lawyers website - his name is Mark Anthony Silverthorn , very imformative and I suggest you really look through it thoroughly, especially the website.

Q.Is it possible to avoid paying a debt due to the passage of time?
A.It might be possible to avoid paying a consumer debt, but not a debt owed to the government, in circumstances where the relevant limitation period on your debt has expired prior to your creditor commencing a lawsuit against you. Each province in Canada has a limitation period which forces creditors to sue individuals on consumer debts within a certain number of years. As a practical matter, once the limitation period on your consumer debt has expired it is very difficult for a creditor to successfully recover a debt from you unless you pay it voluntarily. Failure to pay a debt will likely have negative consequences for you in the future.
Each province in Canada has a limitation period for consumer debts. Limitation periods are not consistent in each province ranging from two years to six years. It is possible for a consumer to restart the clock on a limitation period by either making a partial payment or making a written acknowledgement of the debt to the creditor or the creditor's collection agent.
Each year collection agencies collect tens of thousands of consumer accounts in circumstances where the relevant limitation period has expired and the consumer is no longer legally responsible to pay the debt. Depending upon the age of your consumer debt and the province you live in it may be illegal for a collection agency to attempt to collect a particular account from you where the limitation period has expired.
If you want to learn more about limitation periods you might want to speak to Mark Silverthorn or buy a copy of this e-book titled A How-to Guide for Dealing with Collection Agencies in Canada . - JanePomer & Boccia have a website www.PomerandBoccia.com. They appear to have a Debt Recovery Division & separate legal division. They're located in Woodbridge Ontario near Weston Road & Steeles Ave. The Law Society of Upper Canada does have David Michael Pomer and Robert Anthony Boccia both listed as lawyers in private practice. It seems they make every possible effort to collect through their collection area via phone calls & letters to avoid taking legal action. Not sure how they are able to represent themselves as lawyers when in fact majority of their contact comes from collection division. In other words, this department is not their legal department. Hope this information is helpful. Reference www.lsuc.on.ca (Law Society of Upper Canada)
- Caller: Pomer and Boccia
- Innocent BystanderHave received numerous calls on my cell phone from this phone number over the past few weeks. The person they ask for is not known to me, and although I've explained that they have the wrong number, they call back, sometimes seconds later. Once I missed the call, and they left a message for this same mystery person, stating they were calling from "the lawyer's office". I answered their call again today and asked them to please be aware that they are calling a private cell phone number exclusively used by me (and I'm not the person they're looking for), and they rudely hung up while I was in mid-sentence. Very unprofessional. I feel sorry for their real "clients".
- Innocent BystanderMore calls and more lies from this collection agency, Pomer & Boccia. They phoned my cell phone twice today. The first time, they hung up as soon as I told them they had the wrong number; the second time (one minute later) I asked the caller to stay on the line so that I could advise them that I had kept a log of their calls to my cell phone, in which they ask for "Terry Mercer" and I tell them there is no such person at this number (I don't know this person, and they've never said if it's a male or female Terry.) The caller, who identified herself as "Julia", denied that they had called my number before (even though I had just told her I had a log of every call since Jan 14, and she was calling from the same number 905-663-1440.) She said they would NEVER call back once told they had the wrong number, despite the fact that I have received a total of 8 calls since Jan 14, and have told them on at least 5 occasions that the person they are trying to reach has no connection with the number they are calling. Since the Collection Agencies Act prohibits a collection agency from continuing to call once they have been told this, I advised them the next call from their firm to my cell phone would result in me filing a complaint under the Consumer Protection Branch.
If anyone else is being annoyed with calls from this firm and needs information on what their rights are, please see the following website:

905-663-1438 - Bryson| 6 repliesHello all,
This is Bryson, if you look up 6 posts you will see that I wrote on here exactly 1 year and 1 day ago.
I want to just update you and say that I have never received any kind of contact from these clowns at Pomer and Boccia.
They threatened me with a few letters over a year ago; I never called them back or acknowledge any of those letters. I just read them and threw it in the trash. I will add that each letter was more and more aggressive and said that they will be looking at seizing my assets and a bunch of other nonsense like. THEY WERE LYING.
If you ever get contacted by these guys...IGNORE THEM AND DO NOTHING. They can't do anything to you. THE ONLY THING THEY CAN DO IS INTIMIDATE AND SCARE YOU.
Like I said before, WHY WOULD THE CREDIT CARD COMPANY GIVE UP ON YOU AND HAND YOUR FILE TO THIS TWO BIT COMPANY??? You know why? LEGALLY THEY CAN'T DO A THING.
One final time, IGNORE THEM.
Cheers,
Bryson- Caller: Pomer and Boccia
- Kathryn AdamsonThis firm is call continually, they sound more like a threatening collection agency than a law firm that they profess to be. If I owed a company I would only deal directly never with a billigerent fraudulent company like this.
