Thanks, Ian. From your name it seems that the Midlands is one of their favourite hunting grounds. I'll add the surgery link you provided to the scam warning file. The DWP claim is a worrying development! I can only suppose that perhaps the NHS fraud teams contacted Sanda Wellness too frequently for comfort and that they had to drop that particular insinuation from their patter. The claim that NHS numbers were used is alarming! I look forward to reading Bali / Ajit's responses tomorrow. Good Guardian article, thanks!

I hear you lost your job recently.  From what I hear it was to be expected and a long time coming.

I have now been contacted by this company Sanda for the second time. I felt I was being put under presure to make a purchase today on a special offer in my area for Rosex. I refused to give my bank details or my postal code I told them I wanted to look at their website which they gave freely, I said I would look at it and make my judgement. I am a fit and well 70year old lady and in my opinion do not need any rosehip suppliment.I would like to thank all the above people who gave the information on this company. needless to say I will not be making a purchase. my next move is to contact my Health Centre and organisation who protect the elderly.

Thanks, Previn. I see that Ajit'sYour Wellness  www.yourwellness.net website is now live as well. An Acai Berry advert features prominently which rang a few alarm bells - the papers used to be full of Acai berry scam tales. I am a Blackwell's patron myself so double checked there and they list Bexley as the place it's published:

Please be wary of the people at Sanda Wellness. I caught up with my mother this afternoon and she nearly got caught out. They started off as a health advisory centre doing a survey to hook her in. had they said what they were really about - selling pills - she would not have wasted half an hour of her time. In any case they broke the law which is pasted below.

Selling by phone - What the law says

Selling by telephone is not against the law and if you agree to buy something over the phone, you have probably entered into a legally binding contract.

You have the same rights with goods bought over the phone as you have with goods bought in a shop. They must be of satisfactory quality, fit for any specified purpose and as described. You also have rights under the Consumer Protection (Distance Selling) Regulations 2000, the main one being that you have a cooling off period of 7 working days.

IMPORTANT ----> It is also a requirement of these Regulations that if a business cold-calls you to try and sell you goods or services, the caller must clearly identify the business and purpose of the call at the beginning of the call. <------IMPORTANT

    Useful information

Some telephone salesmen will start their sales talk by saying or hinting that they are conducting research. If you get an unexpected phone call which starts this way, ask the caller to get straight to the point. If it turns out that he is selling something, be wary of him straight away. If he is less than honest at the beginning, he could be less than honest in everything he says.

If you are tempted to buy what is being offered, ask whether the company is a member of the Direct Marketing Association. If it is, you should have more protection.

Pay Safely- It is rare that you will be asked to send cash before you receive goods. Be very cautious if you are.
Using a credit card has some advantages. If you pay in advance and the firm goes bankrupt you may be able to claim from your card company if the goods cost more than £100.

But be careful about giving your credit, debit or store card details over the phone. If you do, you should check your credit card statements even more thoroughly than you usually do. Under the Distance Selling Regulations, if fraudulent use is made of your credit card when you purchase goods by phone, you are entitled to cancel the payment and be reimbursed in full by the card issuer.

What to do if you have a complaint

Try to sort it out first with the company involved by writing to the Customer Services Manager. If, when you get his reply, you still think you have been treated unfairly, write to the Direct Marketing Association and ask them to help.

If you haven't been able to sort out your complaint, you may have to think about court action. If the amount involved is not more than £2,000, you can take your case yourself to the Small Claims Court. Talk to Consumerline on 0300 123 6262, your local Advice Centre or Citizens Advice about this before you ask your local court for an application form. For claims for amounts over £2,000 you should talk to a solicitor.

If you're annoyed by the number of unsolicited telephone sales calls you're getting, contact the Telephone Preference Service of the Direct Marketing Association and ask them to take your name off the lists used by telephone sales companies. You can also remove your name from lists for junk mail and faxes. Their contact details are shown below.

Had a call just now from Indian voices but they withheld their number. However they were talking to me about Rosex since rosehip has been proved to help with arthritis.  They didn't try to sell me anything or ask for any bank or credit card details, but after talking to "Velena" and then "Keith" for about 15 minutes with alot of unnecessary use of my name, I thanked them and rang off.  Irritating, yes, but even elderly people (I'm in my late 60s) know perfectly well not to give out any financial details over the phone.

I have been contacted by this company and bought 2 months supply of the Rosehips. I had already bought some from Healthspan and I agree with Sue they are not as stong. My card has not been used for anything other than to pay for my tablets. I have ordered another 2 months supply today and so far I have no complaints. I can assure you I do not work for them and live in Yorkshire.

Received a call  10.05.11, from Ann (Indian accent) at Sanda Wellbeing, Bexley, Kent, soft soaping me about how young I sounded, how she wanted me to stay well and pain free, live into my 100's!!! acheived with the help of Rosex. She was potentially very convincing and could persuade certain vunerable people to "buy" the goods. I said I would speak to my GP before even considering a purchase,  she said I could speak to someone else within the organisation, she wanted me to remain well and she loved my like her grandmother.  Not a chance thank you!!!

However when I said I would end the phone call she said she would contact me in a few days!

Perhaps Ajit Patel, the owner of Sanda Wellbeing Ltd. can enlighten us? I see that on their site at www.sandawellness.com/Matchbox.pdf  it says "...interspersed with fantasies involving chocolate.."

Send them an e-mail to take you off their calling list. I will repost this later if you or others can't find it.

Good to hear that you managed to stop them taking any money from you. I would still report it; the more reports, the sooner they will be investigated and hopefully shut down to save others from falling victim to their scams.

You obviously found this forum by Googling the company's name. Another great escape! Scam Savvy

On a general note, withheld numbers can be traced if you tell your phone service provider (e.g. BT, TalkTalk etc) the time of the call and you have Ofcom and the police involved by reporting it as detailed here http://consumers.ofcom.org.uk/2009/07/malicious-or-nuisance-calls/ The general info file I post tells you the companies routing Sanda Wellbeing / Wellness calls and that of its distributor, Meerkat Distribution.

YS I'm happy that your card has not been used for anything else and hope it stays that well.

Which Sue do you mean? Susan McDonald, the co-director of Sanda Wellbeing Ltd?

Agreed, there are weaker and stronger, GOPO and non-GOPO.. for example:

    Healthspan:
    Rose Hip Extract
    Standardised Rose Hip Extract
    Strength 250mg
    Price: 120 Tablets £8.95

    Litozin
    Litozin (GOPO)
    Strength: 750mg
Price: 120 Tablets Price: Ranges from £9.95 to £19.95 via Litozin, Amazon, Boots, Superdrug etc etc

    Sanda Wellness:
    Rosex
    Strength 800mg
    Price: 30 Tablets £3 - £60.
Price not stated but from previous reports on this Whocallsme forum range from £3 at carboot sales in Bicester https://whocallsme.com/Phone-Number.aspx/02086190070/20, to £7.50 on eBay and £14.95 - £60 on the phone from Sanda Wellness

(CAUTION: Do not confuse with the original Rosex (Cenol warfarin) brand owned by Ctx-cenol, Inc.in the USA, first used in the 1950s https://whocallsme.com/Phone-Number.aspx/02086190070/23 )

    Lewtress
    Lewtress 2500mg Rose Hip Capsules
    Strength: 2500mg
    Price: 90 Capsules £9.95

ALLof the above info may be free found on the respective companies websites using Google

    Comprehension test:
    1) Which of the above is the strongest?
    2) Debate - which of the above offers the best value? the least value?
    3) Of the above, which brand and company is the ONLY one to be on NHS Warning Lists?

I have had an asian lady on the phone twice in the last week. She tried to sell the Rosex Gopo to me and I felt it could be a scam so I refused. I'm so glad I have a computer to refer to at times like this - You can reach the whole country in a matter of minutes. Thank you.
