- Richie replies to ChrissieTo make a charge to your credit card without your permission is quite simply FRAUD.
It's no different to someone hacking into your bank account, or you walking into Currys and taking an item without their permission.
Currys & PC World will always 'assume' you want Product support and charge the monthly premiums to the credit card that you used to make the payment.
This is an extremely gutter-style practice by a retailer who we would have thought rose above this.
Unless you agreed to and signed a contract, you MUST demand a full refund unless THEY can produce an agreement with your signature on ( which of course they can't)
Report this to the Trading Standards and BBC WatchDog too - this practice must stop. - Raj replies to Jo| 2 repliesif you were signed up without your knowledge the FSO will get the DSG retailer (Comet, Dixons, PC World etc) to refund you in full if DSG refuse irrespective of the terms

- bobbyg replies to RajThere is a lot of negativity and I am sure quite rightly so. I feel I have to pop a wee bit of positivity in. I bought a PC & a laptop from PC World a few years ago. Both times I was asked if I wanted the Product Support cover and agreed to it. I no longer have either item and wanted to stop payments. I found the number in this web site and having read the comments was dreading making the call.
However I got through and was connected after only a couple of minutes. A very polite lady took my details. I did not have the receipts as they had faded but she did it from my address. She confirmed the payments would cease and a confirmation letter would follow. It was as easy as that.
I hope this gives others confidence who may hold similar fears of dealing with this company - L@Gfound charges on credit card of £50.00 & £55.00. & £25.00. dating back several years.Did not know what for then read your forum and found that I purchased a microwave cost £60.00 seems like I could have bought more on the insurance I never had, will try to get the money back. But by your comments it looks like a long job.

Report to you card company
Report to the Trading Standards and Consumer Agency. - vapirlad replies to RajI tried to take my case to the Financial ombudsmen service (FOC) after I discovered AG product Support (AG) had been taking £8.99 from my Credit Card for three years. I got a letter last week stating that FOC could not help me obtain a refund from AG because they could only consider complaints about activities or services that are regulated by the Financial Services Authority or that are licensed by the Office of fair trading for consumer credit purposes.
They said that as AG are a service agreement company they are not covered by them. They implied that I could lodge a complaint and ask for a refund from the CC Company. If they were not compliant I could then take a case to them. - Brian FitzgeraldThis number is far too costly so I have to cancel my insurance

- rob from carlton replies to Johni purchased a pc from currys and agreed the insurance cover which is £5 per month ive never been that sure about this type of cover however my daughter dropped the pc and the screen broke i took it back and they gave me a brand new one no questions and no arguments took me no longer than 15mins i left a very happy customer the BEST £5 a month ive ever spent.
- Unsatisfied customerI bought a washer from Curry's and had the Master care cover, as it was free for one month. .I cancelled it before the deadline and they still charged me. The manager on the phone said, " it is because they sell so many, electronic payment mistakes are bound to happen." He has promised me a full refund, which I am still waiting for. I will think about going for a local shop that is open to negotiation face to face from now on. According to this message board this has been happening since 2008. They must have made a packet over that time and the Ombudsman has had no impact stopping them. Next time everyone, avoid Curry's, that is the only way they will stop and listen, when no one buys there products. Power to the Consumer.
