Report a phone call from 08453512290 and help to identify who and why is calling from this number.
- Banffdude replies to jjAgreed it is a scam.
My parents had a call from this number this morning and promptly hung up as per my instructions when receiving these sorts of calls.
I then contacted Santander direct from my office phone, to check whether the call was genuine.
They advised that it was not and that their fraud team was not trying to make contact.
Apparently, there is a method where even if you hang up the phone the call line can be left connected to the fraudulent number, so if you then dial to your bank to check the legitimacy of the call , you are in fact put through to the first numebr where someone is ready to advise everything is ok when it is not (and no doubt taking all your security details).
I would advise hanging up and then using a different phone contacting your bank to double check - duncan perhamTHIS IS A GENUINE SANTANDER NUMBER. But dont call it, go to the santander website and call them using one of those numbers. You should never call a number that was sent in a text like this.
- Caller: santander
- Call type: Text message
- GlennGenuine call from fraud for a transaction on my account which got rejected, also sent me a text message.
- Caller: Alliance & Leicester
- Lynda in LeicesterHad two calls from this number......an automated messages stating it was a Fraud Alert from Santander Bank for Mrs...........(not my name)......when I called it back, wanted me to put in a PIN number from message, letters, or account???
- Caller: Santander Bank?
- Worried Mum!084553512290 - This number (automated) called and new my daughter's name and was from Santander. I hung up as It seemed dodgy to call like this but then I found their fraud line telephone number which is 020 3059 6525. I called it and got an automated message asking if she'd been called and to follow the options. It said that they had some strange activity on her account and listed 4 recent transactions my daughter had made. It also gave security questions to answer. She had to confirm these transactions were real.
On this occasion it was a real call. Shame its not a real person. I would NEVER answer questions over the phone but ask for a number to call them back but also double check it via their website as these con men are getting cleverer by the day. Or use the number on your debit card.
Just to double check I also called Santander fraud number via their website 08459 724 724 (press the # key on your phone a few times it gets you to a real person quicker) and asked them to confirm that this was actually one of their telephone numbers which the gentleman confirmed.- Caller: Santander Fraud Dept
- Michael replies to Angelic FriendsWell they keep calling me and I don't bank with alliance and Leicester. I don't even have a bank so explain that? Clear scam
- MichaelNo real, I got the same call saying there was fraud on my account buy I done even have a bank account so it's clearly lies.
- Caller: unknown foreign scammer
- ChrisThis a genuine number, Santader called me today regarding a suspected fraudulent transaction on my account that they had blocked and after verifying authenticity (via Santander website - contact section) I called them back. The PIN mentioned in previous posts is a one-time 3 digit PIN sent to you via text or letter and is nothing at all to do with your personal PIN.
If they call you, it may mean that your account has been blocked due to suspect activity and you'll need to call their fraud department back to reactivate it.- Caller: Santander
- cookiemonsterThis must be a scam - I'v just had 2 calls this evening, which I didnt answer, second call went into my answer machine but only said press any key to continue! I do not have an account with Santander or A&L
- EHad message just now claiming to be Santander
Fraud department . Phone number and three digit code Have deleted both - DerbSeems genuine. Santander asking me to confirm 5 recent transactions.
- Caller: Santander
- Geoff Cornish4 calls from this number, 11:05, 11:37, 14:46 & 1821; no message. This is a new one to me after a recent surge in cold cals and previously known scammers.
- Paul BThis is a genuine number, our vet mistakenly tried to process a transaction for £150k which obviously was declined because there isn't enough in the account and within minutes I had a call from this number asking if I recognised any of the previous three transactions, this included the 150k, they said that some of the transactions might not have been processed. There was no request for account numbers, PIN numbers or passwords, just my date of birth, they already have my mobile phone number on record because I transfer money online and they use that to send me a one time code on it.
It is very unusual to receive scam calls on 0845 numbers, 0843 then yes, but that number is blocked on my phone anyway.- Caller: Santander fraud department.
- laura morrisHave received 3 automated calls from this number today saying it was from Santander and there was a problem with my account. Didn't listen to the calls as thought any problem with account would warrant a personal call
- Caller: santander bank
- SimonGot automated call this morning claiming to be santander and naming my wife. Said unusual Tranactions on account then asked for security info so i hung up.
- Caller: Claimed 2b santander

- Jan| 1 replyCalled me but did not leave a message. I called back and had an automated service asking about a recent transaction. Seems genuinely from Santander Fraud dept.
- Caller: Santander Fraud
- David W replies to JanI received a call on my landline and mobile from this number (0845 351 2290) purporting to be from Santander Fraud line. I called this number back and they went through four recent transactions to see if I could recognise them, fortunately I did, all of them were legit transactions. I think why I received the calls, I tried to make a transaction by debit card yesterday but some how entered the incorrect expiry date.
- *I made two payments on line, and within hours this number was calling numerous times a day, including my husbands mobile, yet the mobile number was not given to these companies I purchased good from, this mobile is only registered with Santander, I did not give my full name to the companies either, but this caller asked for me by my full name, saying I should call them back urgently. I went into my on-line banking account and there were no messages from Santander, so this number is a scammer phishing for your bank details.
- Caller: SCAMMER
- ChrisIt was genuine for me confirming some translations I did from a cash point late at night it didn't ask for a pin. they have called before when I did some transactions that I don't normally do.
Im pleased they do check.- Caller: Santander
