- 67jockThis number is GENUINE...got missed call, voice message then a text saying to call them back as there was a suspect transaction. I looked the number up on here, decided to call my bank on the normal number 08448009000, checked with them, they said yes, something HAD flagged up, confirmed that the number was one of their departments, but put me through direct to the fraud dept, guy there went through various transactions over the last week or so, £50 at an ATM here, £33 for petrol there, etc, all local places within 6 mile or so of home (live near Loughborough) then he asked me how much cash I tried to withdraw earlier this morning. I laughed and said "I didn't" . . that's when he also laughed and told me somebody tried to withdraw £299 (?) or the local equivelant . . . . . in South Australia at 2.30 this morning!
I had been there from 24 Sept until 3 Oct this year visiting family.
A and L / Santander have blocked my card, sending me a new one and a new PIN.- Caller: Santander
- maggieThis number has rung me three times today claiming to be Barclays fraud investigators

- Caller: santander
- EmjayI got a phone call from this number at about 7pm, shortly followed by a text message asking me to ring them on that number regarding a recent bank transaction.
I rang santander customer services instead to verify it was legit and they had actually put a block on my card due to a transaction that they had blocked. Good job I didn't ignore it!- Caller: Santander
- AngelaThis is legit - Santander fraud department.
I did some Christmas shopping last night online and as there was several transactions in one go it flagged up.
I got an automated message when I answered so hung up but then got a text message, called the number and it was an automated message asking me to confirm recent transactions. Although I recognised them I still spoke to an advisor who went through all the recent transactions on my bank with me just to make sure I had made them.- Caller: Santander
- Gem RThis is A&L well now Santander Fraud line, its a perfectly innocent call its automated and askes to confirm DOB of which it will ask you 4 different dates and you select your correct one then enter your year. It will list any suspicious activity on your account for example if you have bought something over the net or set up a new payment it wants to confirm this was you.
- Caller: Santander / A&L
- ShazaIt's DEFO Santander (used to be A&L) i made couple of transacs today but when i did an Apple one that was it. Asked them was it the Apple one that stopped my card as i need to use the card a lot in the next couple of weeks for xmas, they said probably!!

- Call type: Event reminder
- TazJust to confirm this is a real number. I was also worried so rang Santander direct on their number from their site. They confirmed someone had got my card details and trying to put through transactions.

I have checked with Santander who advise me to ignore these calls.- Caller: Unknown
- An informed userthis number IS one used by Santander Anti Fraud Unit and it is usual for a voicemail to be left requesting call back. I received a call from them today and verified the number with Santander bank. I would strongly urge anyone receiving a call from them to return their call - it's in your own interest. I'm glad I contacted them tonight it prevented some con artist gaining access to my hard earned cash!
Assuming the number is connected to a scam based on someone with an Indian accent answering the phone is wrong on so many levels!! Whoever holds that derogatory, racist opinion ought to be ashamed of themselves. - Richard replies to karen| 3 repliesThis number is a completely ILLEGAL SCAM.
PLEASE do not give ANY personal information.
ALL postings saying otherwise are done by the perpetrators themselves.

- Mrs S DempseyI had an anomated message today asking my husband to ring this number, as my husband has beed ill for the last 10yrs and unable to use his card, strange as this card has not been used this must be a scam regards Mrs S Dempsey
- Miss HarassedThis number is definitely legitimate! My husband received an automated call from this number today, thought it was a scam and put the phone down. He then rang Santander who gave him the number of the Fraud Department (0845 4019114) and they confirmed it was legitimate, and that some scumbag had got hold of his card details and was trying to rip £360 off him!
- Caller: Santander Fraud Department
- AndrewI have had a call today in an automatic voicefrom this number saying thay were Santander .
I am not with Santander - CatThis is Santander. Our bank account got hacked into today and I am now £400 lighter! I didn't call back the number that called me just in case it was a scam. I'm glad I did call though as my bank account would probably have been emptied by the morning. Dirty B***ards!! Santander were really helpful and now I'm waiting on a new card being sent out and a disclaimer form to fill in and send back to confirm I never gave permission for any of the payments made.

- Duroautomatic phone messages can be genuine; look at my entry for tel.no. 08435235948 to see how the real phishing scamming fraudsters work. limited damage but be very alert to spotting the fake from the genuine, as it's potentially a very nasty one.
- Mick replies to Richard| 2 repliesAbsolutely ridiculous that this is an illegal scam and that anyone supporting the advice to ring it is in on the act, i agree, put your tin foil hat back on you lunatic!
It is very definitely Santander Fraud line, i got a text and call from them this morning due to having used my debit card over the internet last night about 10 times in fairly quick succession, i rang the number back and it listed the transactions that i had made and just asked me to confirm that i was aware about them, simple as that.
Honestly some people can take this security business just too far :D
And for what its worth, i did contact the bank on my old Alliance and Leicester number and i got through to Santander, mentioned it to them and they confirmed it, that is your conspiracy theory completely and utterly smashed now isnt it, what on earth are you going to worry about now??? :D - Dave AGenuine caller from Santander/Alliance & Leicester Fraud department.
They have called due to a number of high value transactions on the account and need to verify that these have been initiated by the account holder.
It is an automated system, you do not need to speak with anyone there. Their system takes you through recent transactions and get you to complete some security details.- Caller: Santander Fraud Department
