This person has been running this scam for some time now, over a year on the same number with several attempts per day in general. This has to stop! After trying the official route it would seem that there is a multitude of barriers in place that limit the available information to the public, i.e. the data protection act. It is very apparent that the authorities have no intention of catching this thief as they are obviously looking for the types who pose a threat to the bigger picture and not to the little man. In my opinion the morality of conning individuals is far worse than that of big business as the individual has no insurance, real assistance etc. for this reason I propose that we find a way to action this ourselves.

There are various websites that can aid in locating the origin of an email, there are also ways of tracing telephone numbers, (although they tend to have a price tag attached) there are a myriad of ways to locate through social media and the like. somewhere this person will have used one of his/her aliases in a place of public domain and it is our job to find it.

If everyone on here were to post what they have found then the magnitude of this persons thievery would be apparent, some headway would be made and maybe the authorities could find due course for a investigation

so here goes:
Obviously it would depend on the setup as to the accuracy of the location however it may give some insight.
The e-mail I received came from IP address 209.85.216.196 and using "Trace Route Locator" the location shown is Atlanta, Georgia, United States. (this is not the Host address as Google HQ is in Mountain View, CA). I think most are convinced that this person is based in Australia which would stand to reason but does not tie in with the result from this IP.
I am aware of two numbers that this person operates from: 61429100703 & 61428465117. They use the following websites: Ebay, Gumtree, Carsguide.com.au, Carsales, Donedeal Ireland and Trading Post.
This is all I have found out but if we team together and post everything we find perhaps the bigger picture will expose its self.

Other thoughts are if someone could access their email address, find a profile they have created, of otherwise find them amongst pay-pal or eBay then that would help. Sure there's some clever person out there who knows how to to this!

This "rose" is at it again trying to purchase my vehicle off of Auto Trader in Canada.  Hardly had my ad listed and got two inquiries that were similar.  Clearly a scam.      bertonscott02@outlook.com   656-464-6564  was the other one.  Off on an oil rig or something, really!

This clown is still at it. Today it calls itself Helina on the 22/2/14. Helinanathan@gmail.com is it's email. It messaged me about my car for sale on gumtree in Australia.

Hi got an sms and email from the same person with same name this morning, i gave him my phone and emails id luckily i did not go through with my paypal details which he has asked.  thanks guys for your help as when I searched his details i was taken to this site. shocking.

I just had the same thing with that guy behind "edenmanfred46@gmail.com"; he wanted to buy a vespa in Switzerland for transfer to Canada. And his Mobile is registered with the name "Sandy Gold"??!

Got message and email today re car for sale on gumtree. Gave bsb  and account and my business card. Should have known better. The email was the story the same as blackjedda above. Have since notified westpac. Loser

This scam is still happening. Advertised my car on 'Gumtrees' in Perth last night and received a text message this morning, but this one was from an un-displayed number and headed 'Inquiry'. Reply was to jasonmaxwell2010@gmail.com.
The reponse to my email came from  Janet Maxwell who was keen to buy the car sight-unseen and ship it to Darwin.

yes i have been contacted by Mark Oliver who is working on a ship and wants to buy my car. he puts the money into a paypal account but needs me to pay $1750 to a courier in china before funds are released over sale of my car. big scam.
the scammer has contacted me again under the name rebecca barbara - same MO.
i contacted my bank who advised to only accept a bank cheque from someone who has actually seen the car.
mark oliver has also been associated with loot related scams as well.
these scammers just spend all day waiting for someone to make an error and there is $1750 in his chinese account. nice if you can get it.

No. These crooks just move on to their next victim. They are usually Asia based. I wouldn't worry about it if I was you.

I have received this sms (with no number) today for my ute ad on gumtree.

They said:
"Is your vehicle still for sale? what is the lowest price and condition of it,get back to me through my email address (jasonmaxwell2010@gmail.com)"

I said:
"If you read the ad properly you would know about the price I'm asking for and the condition come see for yourself?"

Then I received this email after:

I knew for starters it was a joke! I didn't even mail them back I SMS back haha, also no contact and address?, they wanted to buy the car without even test driving it? for all I know I could've sent them a car from the junkyard and they wouldn't even know? lol idiots.. anyways this needs to stop because they might target the right person and actually scam them.
