my mother had a call from them, saying they were from The Well Woman Centre based in buckingham, trying to sell her rosex (rosehip syrup) for £22.25 with a pensioners discount of taking it to £15.99.  he was insisting that my mum give him her bank details but eventually said he would accept a cheque.

fortunately my mum is very with it and was having none of it (i know a lot of people of her age that would have agreed to it).  after hanging up the phone she contacted her doctors surgery and they have had a few calls about them and they are looking to taking it further as they gave the impression they had access to medical files.

If the caller said that they were calling from Buckingham, it would have been on behalf of Meerkat Distribution, a Sanda distributor. To put an end to these two companies abusing OAPs, please report it.

this was a random call from a company calling themselves Wellness Centre. The man was firing questions at me about my health and what medication and supplements I was taking for any ailments. He did not pause for breath but when I could get a word in I asked him who he was. He said Mr.Royd from the Wellness Centre and they were doing a general survey on peoples health. I asked if it was government backed and he said no. He was giving me advice on various supplements I was taking and also recommending others. I tried to stop him talking but it was very difficult as he just went on and on. Finally I told him I had to put the phone down. He gave me his address -32 Ballmoor,Celtic Court,Buckinghamshire.Regsn No. 6377623. I was not happy with the call as it went on for far too long and it was difficult to curtail it.

I received about 10 calls from an Asian lady calling herself Lina  telling me she was doing a survey for the Wellness Centre  in Buckingham. \she asked lengthy questions about me, my husband and family the first time she rang and was on 35 mins. She eventually told me I needed some ROSEX which was normally £42 but she woukd sell me it for £16.95 if I bought it then. I told her I would discuss the matter with my husband and she asked me "Why is your husband a medical man" I told her no and firmly said I would ring back if I wanted the product. She made me write down the number and kept asking me to repeat the number back to her I was getting really annoyed with her tone and put the phone down.  She has rung at least another 10 times over 2 days.

Received call 29/03/11 from Wellness Centre,Bucks.MK18 1RQ about product called Rosex.Caller named Alistair offered 30 tablets for £14.95., each of which contained 800 mg of GOPO as anything less potent would be useless.He became very insistent when I refused to give him my bank details as this was a special offer which could not be received any other way.I hung up only for him to call me back the next day .Certainly glad I didn't fall for what was a very plausable and persistent story.

You were fortunate to escape from the clutches of the Sanda Wellness Centre in Buckingham. Others have not been so lucky. Please do report Sanda Wellbeing / Wellness. There are a variety of channels from TPS (if registered as this was so obviously a sales call) to your local NHS PCT and even the Police. The NHS and Thames Valley Police have issued a scam warning:

Thames Valley Police have warned us about a telephone scam currently occurring in the Oxford and Bicester area. People are receiving telephone calls purporting to be from the Bicester Health Centre, offering an opportunity to purchase Rose Hip syrup to help with arthritis.

The Health Centre will never telephone patients to sell medication. If you receive such a call, we strongly urge you DO NOT give any personal details or financial information, just hang up. If you wish, please report the call to the police.

Ialso got a call re "Pomy". This was from Alisha Miller of 32 Vall Moor, Celtic Court, Buucks, MK18 1RQ. Phone 02086190075. She offered "pomy" as a healthy supplement, which was apparently an extract of pemegranite skin. Price of £15 as against £35 from good High Street health food outlets.

Ruth has asked me to post this one.....which has been checked!! It sounds horrendous so please be on your guard.

This is an email which was sent by a family member:

Mum has told me tonight about a scam I think she has walked into. I hope you can help her as I think the police should be involved. A lady phoned her and Mum thinks she said she was from the Stroke Unit. She asked all sorts of questions including Mum's date of birth and then offered her some Rose Hip remedy for arthritis. She told Mum the cost was £14.95 and she would then receive some free samples. The pills were delivered to her flat this evening after our Christmas party and £150 has been taken from her bank. Mum gave them all her bank details and she paid by debit card.

I looked up the company on the web and there are several articles about a scam. It says the Metropolitan Police are aware of it and it is fraud and these people target the elderly. You may want to look it up. The company is SANDA WELLNESS, 32 Balimore, Celtic Court, Buckingham Industrial Estate, MK18 1RQ., tel. 020 861 90075. (According to the parcel). Perhaps you should warn the other residents as we don't know where they got Mum's details from. She probably wont get her money back but I have told her to go to the bank first thing and ask them to cancel her Debit card and ask for a new one. At least this will stop the company from taking any more money out of her account, hopefully they haven't emptied her account but they have all the necessary information to clone her details.

It is not listed as a hoax on Snopes or Hoax slayer and if you Google 'Sanda Wellness Scam' it pulls up several other people who have been conned. It starts with a call from an Indian call centre, apparently, and following an advertisement in the Daily Mail which gives them an air of respectability - but anyone can place an advert!

Anyone affected should contact the police and trading standards, plus their bank to see if they can somehow claim it back

Congratulations on the escape! "Price of £15 as against £35 from good High Street health food outlets." Yes, their price information needs to be taken with a pinch of salt. Reputable brand Pomegranate Extract is available at half that price on the High Street!

As others I had a lengthy call regarding Pomy.M Barret was annoyed I wouldnt give him my husbands bank details.  After stern words from my husband he put down the phone.

Beware of Scammers!

Scammers continue to target unsuspecting members
of the public. During times of economic uncertainty
and organisational change, incidents of fraud are
likely to increase. Consequently, a rise in the number
and variety of scams is expected and staff are      
reminded to be extra vigilant.
Here are the latest incidents to be aware of:

Keep Taking the Medicine!

The Counter Fraud Team has received three separate reports of inappropriate communications
between a private company and patients regarding their medication.  

Calls have been made to patients, usually elderly, to offer advice on their medications, with the
patient believing the caller to be either from their health body or local Health Centre.  

In the reported cases, the caller has advised the patient to stop taking essential medication and
to change to their own ‘much better’ herbal remedy. The patient has then been subject to a
hard sell and bank details have been repeatedly requested.

The company has been reported to the Counter Fraud  and Security Management Service. If
staff should hear of further patient contacts of this type please call your Local Counter Fraud
Specialist- details on page 8.

Patients are advised to speak to their local community pharmacist or GP before they stop    
taking any prescribed medication, or start taking alternative medications.

Yet another person here who was targetted. This time they gave me a web address of http://www.gopo.co.uk/ which shows you all the benefits of Rosex .
Another nice Indian chap who went by the name of Glen Rodrigez. Very amicable chap who told me i had arthritus. Great i dont need to go to the Dr's now always wondered why my back was so sore all the time. Well since the age of 15 anyway.
Prescribed that i would need the 800 mg dose and offered to sell me the tablets at the special pensioners rate of £14.95 ( great now i'm a pensioner ( really 42 )) .
Again given the address of 32 Celtic Court and a postcode of MK18 1RQ and that was in Buckingham ( not Bucks or Buckinghamshire )
Eventually after 17 mins on the phone he got the gist that i would not buy anything from him and we wished each other a goodnight.
Hopefully people will not get ripped off by these people.
